When shipping items through containers via ocean, it is important to securely package the items in order to prevent damage. The customer is liable for the packaging of the shipment. CIV CARGO is not responsible for any damages of any kind. To protect your shipment from natural vibration that occurs in transit, use proper cushioning, blocking, bracing, banding, stretch-wrapping, and heavy-duty boxes, cardboard boxes, barrels, standard wood or plastic pallets etc.
CIV CARGO measures boxes as Length x Width x Height abbreviated in (LxWxH). Length is always the longest side that has a flap. Width side has a flap too but it’s always shorter than the length. Height is the only side with no flaps. There are 3 majors box type, see below how to find LXWXH for each of them:
They are easy to measure. The flaps should be facing up and the opposite side of the box flaps should be on the floor (illustration below).
As you see, the box flaps are facing up and the opposite box flaps are on the floor. Easy and self-explanatory for the square boxes on finding (LxWxH)
Once again easy to measure and find the right box size if the box flaps are facing up
Not to bad on figuring out which way is the length, width, and depth (LxWxH)
The next illustration is the most mistaken type of box that often results in providing the wrong box size.
People mistakenly think the depth is the length. This illustration was based on a 4x4x15 box, which is totally different from a 15x4x4 box. It is one of the most common mistakes people make when figuring a box size.
CIV CARGO measures barrels as Length X Width x Height. See illustration below:
CIV CARGO measures barrels as Diameter X Height. See illustration below:
Bike measurement goes by the diameter of the wheel (tire).
